Nine-year-old Jason wants a computer for his birthday. To celebrate his big day, all his friends come over ... but there's no sign of a computer. By the end of the afternoon, Jason is heartbroken, until a mysterious box arrives with not only a computer but headphones, too. This is Jason's best birthday ever!


Jason likes playing video games on his new computer. While playing one day, he meets a friend named Dominic. He and Dominic play games and talk through Jason's headphones. Jason keeps Dominic a secret from everyone. He is Jason's secret best friend, and they eventually meet when Dominic picks Jason up in his car and takes him to an amazing arcade.

But friends from the computer are not always safe, as Jason finds out. He gets scared in Dominic's car one day as everything familiar begins to disappear, and Jason learns an important lesson.

After a long summer break, Malik is ready for the third grade. He’s sad his best friend Dallis isn’t in his class, but they see each other during lunch. One day, though, something bad happens. The tallest kid in Malik’s class tries to take his lunch, but Dallis stops him.
